A SUAI student's project took 17th place in the All-Russian ranking of the TOP 1000 university startups.
The All-Russian rating of the TOP 1000 university startups is formed as part of the implementation of the Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship Federal Project. This rating contains the most promising university startup projects in such technological areas as digital technologies, new devices and intelligent manufacturing technologies, medicine, chemical technologies and new materials, resource-saving energy, creative industries and biotechnologies. The startup project on Smart vision by Sergey Nenashev, a student of the Department of Computing Systems and Networks of SUAI, president of the ISA SUAI student section, took 17th place in the ranking. The project is dedicated to the development of a software product in the field of operational aviation and intelligent monitoring in disaster and emergency zones.
The uniqueness of the product lies in the implementation of a specialized monitoring method using information channels from heterogeneous location sources, – says the author of the project – Such large amounts of information will require the development of theoretical and applied methods for integrating data into one information field in order to obtain detailed and reliable information about the state of the observed surfaces and objects. This will allow us to develop highly reliable algorithms for assessing the state of observed objects and territories.

On March, 10 the opening ceremony of the training and research laboratory for the design of small spacecrafts (SSC) took place at the SUAI. As well SUAI held an exhibition of students developments and unique scientific installations. The honorary guests of the event were Yuri Borisov, Director General of the State Corporation Roscosmos, and Vladimir Knyaginin, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg. The ceremony attended active members of the Russian St. Petersburg section of the ISA: Yulia Antokhina, Igor Pavlov, Nikolai Mayorov, Alexei Rabin, Sergey Solyony.
The exhibition of scientific achievements of the university became an opportunity to show developments in the field of unmanned aerial systems and flying robotics. The NORBI orbital experiment, a prototype of a planetary rover for testing onboard networks, as well as a unique scientific installation based on the SpaceWire automated network modeling and design system were presented. The guests had an opportunity to see a prototype of the rover, created by students, its chassis can be controlled from a smartphone, and the robotic arm will allow to work out a number of tasks. As culmination was an important event for the university - the opening of a teaching and research laboratory for the design of small spacecrafts (SSC).
-The laboratory will become a new point of growth for our university, - said Nikolai Mayorov, Director of the Institute of Aerospace Instruments and Systems of the SUAI. - It is planned to conduct both laboratory classes and applied research in the field of on-board systems of small spacecraft. The laboratory equipment will be used to gain work experience and prepare team student projects for the launch of educational satellites, participation in the SiriusSat-3U Kosmostroy competition and in the educational programs of Roscosmos for support, development and launch of Russian educational satellites Universat.
The new laboratory is equipped with educational kits SiriusSat-3U and OrbiCraft 3D compatible with the Orbicraft-Pro platform, which have the same architecture as real spacecraft. The kit includes VHF transceivers that allow to send and receive information via the VHF channel, in which most of the "cubesats" operate.
– The opening of the laboratory for the design of small spacecraft at the SUAI will contribute to the expansion of the position of the Russian Federation in the space industry, – said Yulia Antokhina, rector of the SUAI. – Today, creating the ICA is more than relevant. Work in this field has been carried out at our university for a long time, so today's event is really very important. After all, here students and graduates of the SUAI will have the opportunity to prepare their own projects related to the assembly of functional models of spacecraft.
The guest of honor of the opening ceremony Yuri Borisov, Director General of the State Corporation Roscosmos, congratulated the university staff on the important event and noted that the direction that the laboratory will develop is in great demand today.

On March 17, in St. Petersburg State University of Aerospace Instrumentation (SUAI) the innovative Laboratory of Cognitive Research was opened. The new division will allow to create neuroavatars of people that will speak many foreign languages, to track the emotional perception of various content and even identify fakes or signs of manipulation in it. The opening of the laboratory was prepared for about two years. We prepared the premises, ordered the necessary equipment, made up curricula, passed through approval processes. The opening of the Laboratory was attended not only by representatives of the university administration, but also by partners - the president of the Eurasian League of Subtitles Elena Konotopova and the head of RedCarpetStudio Natalia Ivanova-Dostoevskaya. Together with the Eurasian League of Subtitlers, the Laboratory will test the standards for subtitling programs and series and analyze the perception of audiovisual works. And together with the partner Red Carpet, they will test animated works. In addition, there are requests for the use of VR technologies in education and AR technologies in archival work, as well as proposals regarding the adaptation of museums for people with special sensory needs.
- Cognitive research provides the basis for modeling the learning processes of artificial intelligence. We will not be able to teach it without knowing how a human learns. If we do not understand how the information of consumers of this artificial intelligence is perceived, then this will be an absolutely alien thing for us. In the laboratory, we create a “human-machine” interface. With the help of programs, a person can control the cursor with a glance, interact with various devices of a smart home. Secondly - thought control: with the help of a certain complex we can explore the processes of concentration. To create a new level of training, we have a VR camera, a VR helmet and other equipment. Thanks to this, we will not only shoot, not only edit, but also know how and where a person looks in a VR environment,- shared Alexey Kozulyaev, head of the Cognitive Research Laboratory, CEO and co-owner of RuFilms LLC and RuFilms Group of companies.
The researchers have at their disposal equipment for a full cycle of testing the perception of creative graphic, audiovisual and Internet materials, as well as for creating, testing and cognitive adjustment of the perception of educational and artistic VR materials. With its help, the university will be able to carry out a wide variety of projects within the framework of grants and cooperation with industry partners, as well as conduct training in cognitive science and experimental cognitive science. More than half of the Laboratory's software solutions are domestic, and now they are working on developing their own analogues for the remaining part. The Laboratory is being created within the framework of the "Cognitive research and optimization of neurocognitive and other human-machine interaction interfaces" strategic project under the Priority 2030 program together with the Eurasian League of Subtitles. The following members of the Russian St. Petersburg Section of the International Society of Automation (ISA) take a great part in the organization of the Laboratory: Professor Yulia Anatolyevna Antokhina (SUAI Rector), Associate Professor Sergey Valentinovich Solenyi (Director of SUAI Engineering School), Professor Vladislav Fedorovich Shishlakov (SUAI Vice-rector).
